I'm enjoying a rare day off. Actually, it's made even rare-er due to the fact I'm actually getting PAID for this! I'm going to go up to a friend's yarn shop and help her take great pics of her store so she can post it online and get better sales.
But here at the house, the things are pretty quiet. That's actually GOOD. The geese are doing well, even Sweet Pea, who lost an eye to some sort of mishap two weeks ago. If you look in the photo, he is the one goose whose eye does not reflect the flash of the camera.
Which is why I took the photos in the first place. We were pretty sure that the eye was damaged beyond healing and we've been putting Triple Antibiotic Ointment in the eye to make sure that the eyeball heals over and will be sealed away from bacteria. As a goose, he'll not want to fly anymore, but as a domestic goose, he'll be fine. We've had a goose before that was born with one eye that did just fine.
Knitting-wise, I've been slowing down a lot since getting the 1st shift job. Mainly because I've got to be up so early in the morning that I go to bed about 8 pm at night. Not much knitting going on. However, I did finish this long wispy stole I've been working on for a while.
I wanted to use 2 skeins of the Cascade El Cielo on it. This yarn has all the beauty of the wispy Kid Seta with the softness of Alpaca. It's just so soft and surprisingly warm for what it is! After work, I sit down and try to rest my feet but I find that once I do that, I become chilled. So I wrap this around me while I sit with my feet up.
I have a few gifts to knit up. One is to an ex-coworker and another to my Sister. She's allergic to wool, so again..........alpaca! I've met a great family who raises Alpaca nearby and I'm working with them to gain more exposure to both their farm and store.
Lake Koshkonong Fiber and Livestock has the most adorable flock of goats, sheep and alpaca I've ever met! There's this bond they have, the owners and their flock, that is one built of trust and love. Good stewardship of livestock is something that is underrated in a lot of ways. When the animals are well cared for, they will appreciate their caregiver and run to greet them. It's this way with the Thomas Family.
I'm getting paid in Alpaca fiber...........who could disagree with that????
