February

I don't think I took a photo of it, because I wanted to make sure she got it before the end of semester last year, but I made a baby blanket for one of my classmates. It was made out of Red Heart bulky yarn in the colors of teal and brown.  The gender of the baby is still not completely known.  3 Skeins, knitted on size 13 needles made for a huge blankie. The good thing was that it kept me warm while I was knitting it.

OK, I found a photo of it in progress.

Lately, I've got some things on the needles, but nothing done.  This is my clinicals semester at school.  I've got one day of class, and 4 days of clinical studies.  That means each of the areas of study for the last 2 years gets an intensive focus in a work environment.  For me, it's been at school, but in another 2 weeks, I'll be starting my hematology rotation at a clinic in a nearby town.

New bosses, new people, learning the hands-on stuff to my book learning. I've heard rumors of it being brutal, another rumors of it being less than brutal and more supportive. I don't know what to expect but I guess I'll find out.

Phlebotomy is one of my most stressful classes.  Taking blood from a patient is and has given me lots of anxiety. I don't want to hurt anyone nor make them have to be re-stuck for the needed blood.

But right now, I'm in my Microbiology rotation.  Samples of blood, urine, sputum, feces...yep, feces..........all get sent to the lab to see if they indicate an infection. It would be my responsibility to run the right tests and identify what is causing the problem.

I did score an 8 ounce braid of roving from Brown Sheep. aquamarine is so pretty!
I also am checking out a yarn of the month club from Darn Good Yarn
With all that I'm doing lately, I've got little time to feed my need to shop for yarn.

And with my new work, my attire has devolved from 'normal' clothing to scrubs. Scrubs and only scrubs.  It took me time to find a brand that was comfortable. I finally settled for Scrub Star from Wal-Mart. Their rayon stretch brand is comfortable and when I bend over, I don't get a wedgie. I'm very thankful for that!
