A Dream that Explains my Career Path

Last night I had a dream that I was working at one of those huge resorts, like Disney World or something. HUGE place and my role in it was pretty small.  That day, a few guys and I were working on this movable candy making cart.  It was the size of a caboose and had a copper pot, steam table and another table.  As you make hard candy, you boil the mixture, then put it on the steam table to slowly cool it down while you manipulate it . Its gooey work.
So the guys and I are done making the candy and the usual thing to do is to clean out the pot, the table, then disinfect it, food rules and all. NOPE! This supervisor just unplugs the whole thing and rolls it down the corridor, gooey candy is all over the place, and we're screwed.............because the Supervisor didn't follow the rules.

So we jump ship, leave the cart and run.  We're all wearing aprons and paper hats, so as I run, I tell the guys to get rid of their shit and blend in. I spot an open door, dodge in and find myself in restaurant.   I run through and get to the entrance and see an old friend from High School, Tina. She greets me and makes a remark about how I'm never seen in that restaurant. Well, here I am, on the run with people chasing me.........make up something quick.  "Oh I decided to try something new. Try the Carbonara" and run out the front door.

Out the door, I run and they're still chasing me (WHY are they chasing us, I'll never understand)

I run into another door, and it's the medical center. As I run around trying to find a back door, I find this poor lady stuck in this teeny tiny cubicle at a computer. I ask her, where's the back door? She hands me a map and says, 'follow the back wall'

Out the door again. This time, it's a maintenance shed, and the guys are remarking that when they asked for help they didn't want a girl with soft hands. Yeah, you and me both, dude.  So I'm off again. This time, the path runs to the back, desolate area of the park.  As I get out further, it's colder, muddier and just icky. But here comes a bunch of young guys with mining gear in.  And as they talk it's all about how the jobs at this park were misrepresented.

"Have fun, work with kids, the HR person said. I'm working in a coal mine, never get to see the light of day!" One person says. And I can agree to that. Working anywhere, is like that.  Employers always try to sell you the highlights of a job but never tell you about the drudgery. About never seeing the light of day.

1000th Feedback!!!

KIP Bags by Ruddawg has gotten their 1000th feedback! In honor of this momentous occasion, I am giving away a One of a Kind KIP Bag filled with goodies. The stuff? A sampling based on the idea "A Few of my Favorite Things." What are a few of my favorite things? Well, KIP bags, of course. This one is red velvet, 10" high by 7 1/2" wide. A red velvet wrist strap allows for knitting and walking at the same time. It has a decorator fabric bottom and fancy stitching at the top to give it a more festive look. What is in the bag? The top fuzzy item is a pair of socks. Not just socks, but a pair of those fuzzy and oh so soft socks. I am a fiend for socks! I ask for a new set of socks every year for my birthday. Next is a skein of Alpaca yarn - Caramel in color. I love, love LOVE alpaca! This skein is from Blue Sky Alpacas, 120 yards of Sport Weight Yarn. The red item is my most useful tool for knitting, sewing and everything else. It's a small swiss army knife that

Secret of the Stole: Clue 3 Finished!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/secretofthestole/ Clue 3 is finished! I am knitting it in handspun 2-ply yarn on size 3 addi circular needles with beads. The beads used to be only green, now I've added lavender and gold ones also. To me, this looks like a spider and web-themed stole. Notice the 3 spiders on it? I call them spiders because they have 8 legs each.
I know the picture is not the best, but it does show the basic shape of the shawl. It's a faerose shawl, knitted for a friend of mine who will be married next month. The middle is a pattern I've memorized from somewhere, but the wings were from the Mystery Stole3 Pattern. Now the left side was the easiest: I picked up 100 stitches from the middle and just utilized the wing chart from the Mystery Stole3. The right side took some canoodling. I figured out that if I read the wing chart from the left to the right instead of the 'usual' way it would work. The last stitch was not a slip stitch, but a k2tog stitch. I then slipped that stitch and purled all the way back to the edge of the wing. It worked out well. The total knitting time was 2 weeks. I knitted like a fiend. Last Thursday I realized that I had to start school this Thursday. I knitted faster and faster. I finished it during the Packer game last night and blocked it on my son's bedroom floor.
